The Summit Meeting of ALO7 Learning Power

On November 28, 2008, ALO7 hosted the “Summit Meeting of Learning Power: Design the Future Education in Shanghai.” At the summit, William Ton, vice president of teaching at ALO7, introduced ALO7’s newly-developed product, Genius English.

Genius English combines Chinese, American, and European standards of teaching English and recognizes the cognitive abilities and limitations of students 6-12 years old.

ALO7’s Genius English course contains 12 textbooks, with additional exercise books, 50 phonics exercises, and 160 leveled readers. ALO7 also provides online courseware, consisting of 1,200 interactive game-based lessons, over 80 multimedia teaching modules, and 240 detailed teaching plans.

In addition to classes and online courseware content, ALO7’s training director has employed the core concepts from the TEFL-C program for Chinese bilingual education. The program was developed by Columbia University in order to produce a growth plan for five-star language teachers. The program progresses step-by-step, beginning with one-star general education theories, and ultimately advances to five-star language teaching materials and techniques. The five-star plan follows three main transitional principles: macro to micro, theories to practical innovation, and easy to difficult. The plan enables teachers to apply a set of structured and reliable methods for teaching and learning.

The summit meeting provided a platform to introduce a variety of new content that continues to grow and evolve, offering structured teaching and learning methods that are user-friendly to both teachers and students.
